Hey, thank you for stopping by, my name is Leshawn Malcolm, founder and owner of Leshawn Malcolm LLC, where we specialize in custom done to order female clothing. Now let me give you a little peak about the foundation of my company and the road I took to where I now am.The idea of starting my own business came about on January 25, 2016, while working as a customer service representative at one of the islands top call center agencies in Jamaica. I’ve always had a passion for the arts from at a young age, I was even envied by colleagues at one point for my perfect drawing skills of the female body, and even being able to use scraps of fabric, or anything I can get my hands on to manipulate, drape and apply it to any toy figure I could get my hands on. So I guess it’s safe to say I had a passion for fashion.
The move from customer service rep was a huge one for me as an individual who has no training or major/professional education in sewing and designing higher than high school clothing and textiles. At that time I was a not a sole believer in making leaps or giving up sure for unsure. But little did I know that God had already set things in motion for my future. I took the leap of faith and even though at the time I wasn’t a born again believer in the faith, I had that inner voice repeating “God’s got your back”. With a little help from my father I purchased my first mannequin, and later bought some sewing machines and equipments with the savings I had and started off my journey to becoming a fashion designer.

April 8, 2016 I launched my business. Started out in resort wear ie swimsuits, stage wear etc, basically anything I could sew to get some cash. With sales being low, the one voice I wanted to never hear would come about ever so often to give up I made a mistake. But with me being a tenacious individual I still kept the faith and remained persistent, and with my family especially my mother reminding me of how proud she was of me I never gave up. God brought in strangers into my life who I’ll call spiritual helpers some clients to this day, while some became friends. Who helped in motivation and also in advertising my craft to a bigger audience.
Eventually there were trials and errors, but most of all a ton of successes, and today I can look back and say thank you Jesus, for keeping me through all those sleepless nights and days, days I’d be overbooked but determined to produce an outfit or even if it meant no sleep. Thank you for bringing me clients, thank you for the knowledge and wisdom on constructing garments over never made before or had any idea on the first thing to do, and most of all thank you for showing up everything I needed him.
Today I’m a full pledged Christian, and I can proudly say i owe everything I’ve became, achieved and all my successes to him.
I started out doing swimwear’s etc but initially I wanted to be a designer producing wedding gowns, high fashion dresses or attire and praise be to God that’s what I’m doing today. I can testify that I’m not exactly where I want to be yet as a business, but by the grace of God up in Heaven I’m getting there one day at a time. Also a word of encouragement to all small businesses out there never give up, never surrender. I did it, so can you! Just keep pushing, don’t look at another man’s success, just keep your eyes on your goals and it will come to pass.
